Jimmy Buffett

Band: Jimmy Buffett
Date: Oct 31, 1982
Venue: USF Sun Dome
Ticket Price: $12.50

I grew up in Florida. And I have a great appreciation for sand, waves, boats, sun, flip-flops, accoustic guitars, shrimp, & margaritaville.

Some of my favs:

Haul the sheet in as we ride on the wind that our
Forefathers harnessed before us.
Hear the bells ring as the tide rigging sings.
It’s a son of a gun of a chorus.

Where it all ends I can’t fathom, my friends.
If I knew, I might toss out my anchor.
So I’ll cruise along always searchin’ for songs,
Not a lawyer, a thief or a banker.
………………………………
Yes, I am a pirate two hundred years too late.
The cannons don’t thunder there’s nothin’ to plunder
I’m an over forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late.
………………………………
Headin’ up to San Francisco
for the Labor Day weekend show…
………………………………
Yeah, but now I’m gettin’ old, don’t wear underwear,
I don’t go to church, and I don’t cut my hair;
But I can go to movies and see it all there,
Just the way that it use to be.
………………………………
I want to go back to the island,
Where the shrimp boats tie up to the pilin’.
Give me oysters and beer for dinner ev’ry day of the year,
And I’ll feel fine, I’ll feel fine.

Saw the 1988 tour of Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band. Excellent show. :) Thanks for reminding me of it. A Pirate Looks at 40…means more to me now than it did in the 80s.

I was at that one also! Halloween night at the Sun Dame. I remeber that there was a huge jack-o-lantern being projected on the stage.

Ahhh, I sure miss those days. Affordable concerts and Buffett shows that didn’t sell out.

    Thanks for the memories!
