80's Rock Concerts

Band: Rush
Opening Act: Saxon
Date: September 20, 1980
Venue: Lakeland Civic Center

This was their Permanent Waves tour. Spirit of the Radio was the big hit. One thing I remember is that they played a new song that wasn’t released yet called “Tom Sawyer.” I remember thinking it was a great song. Then the following year they released “Moving Pictures“ and that song got a lot of airplay.

You have an interesting concept for a site.

I’m not sure if this one is too far behind for you to get this message, but whey I saw “Lakeland Civic Center” on the first ticket, I had to look over the others to see if I’d been to any of the concerts you had been to.

This is the one! Rush is still one of my favorite bands, and the two times I saw them in concert were among my favorite concerts to this day (the other time I saw them was in the old Salt Palace, Salt Lake City, Utah… The Hemisphere’s Tour. (Still my favorite Rush album, but they’re all great!).

Thanks for Makin’ Memories all over again for me!

Oh, I love this site. And I would have loved to have seen Rush in concert, but it was not meant to be.

I have seen RUSH at every concert within Massachusetts since the Power Windows tour.15 shows so far and still counting.I would have given anything to see one of the Permanent Waves venues.Jacob’s Ladder has been the one song I have not heard live that I pray I can catch before they are gone…Just once
