The Police

Posted by Scooby in Concerts

Band: The Police
Opening Act: Joan Jett
Date: March 14, 1982
Venue: Lakeland Civic Center
Ticket Price: $10.50

Definitely a cool show. I’ve always been a huge fan of Stewart Copeland. I think he’s one of the greatest drummers. And I remember someone threw a cup of water (or something) at Sting. The crowd started booing the person who threw it but Sting calmed them down. Then he said something like, “Want to know what this guy’s problem is? He doesn’t get enough sex!” Haha…not sure why I remember that. But I do.

Man I would have killed to see The Police in concert. I still play their music as if it just came out today. And to think the ticket was only $10.50…I wonder how much it would go for nowadays.

I think that ticket would easily be over a $100 nowadays…

I remember paying $15 for tickets to see The Pretenders perform and was outraged because most shows were $11 or $12…I think that’s how much T-shirts cast now!!!!!!

I cannot even imagine paying$10.50 for a concert. I paid $20 to see Vanilla Ice 4 years ago at a bar. Vanilla Ice!!! They should have paid me.

When The rolling stones toured here about 6 years ago maybe more, the tickets were an outrageous R600.00 which is about $100.00 . they should give you a T shirt and a limo ride with your ticket for $100.00

Man, the 80’s was the bomb.

This has brought back some cool memories. I think my favorite albums were “Zenyatta Mondatta” & “Ghost in the Machine.”

    Some of my favorite tunes…

    - Driven to Tears
    – When the World is Running Down
    – Canary in a Coalmine
    – Invisible Sun
    – Demolition Man
    – Spirits in the Material World

Wow… great songs. What a great band!

I saw The Police, and saw them, and saw them…

I far preferred Cheap Trick as their opener to Joan Jett. She just wasnt a Police kind of act.
