I seem to recall, the B-52's and Joan Jett gettng boo'd off the stage. Long day waiting for the Who to come on, but once they did, it was prpbably one of the best live performances I ever saw. Like you, I was never a great Who fan, but they were very impressive.
I was at this show too. I seem to recall, the B-52’s and Joan Jett gettng boo’d off the stage. The Animals opened up and were awful until the last 2 songs of their set. I don't know if they took a while to get warmed up or for the stimulants to kick in, but the end of their set was great. I think they were supporting a new album at the time (a 1980's Animals album - go figure). I remember the booing of the B-52's and the quick end of their set, brought on by Fred Schneider catching a shoe to the side of his head.
The Who were great, better than expected.
I was at this show as well. The Who were great, better than expected.
